Trainer waits more than decade for first treble

RACING: Warwick trainer Mick Hemmings has recorded three placings on the one day for the first time in his career.

Kira's Beat, Krustallos and Angels Love were all placed at Allman Park last Saturday.

Six-year-old mare Kira's Beat, who was returning from a five-month spell, finished third in the Killarney Cup (1500m), which she won last year.

"Kira's Beat needed the run and I would hope she will be better in her next 1500m race,” Hemmings said.

"We were happy with the way she ran as she didn't get on the fence at any stage of the race.”

The cup was won by Pat's Girl from Stellar Jewel.

Hemmings said it was possible he would start Kira's Beat in the Warwick Credit Union Warwick Cup on October 12.

"The cup is a long way off but the distance (1500m) will suit,” he said.

Three-year-old filly Krustallos finished second in an 800m maiden plate, her first start. Four-year-old mare Angels Love was third in the last over 1100m.

Hemmings has nominated Clown In The Moon for a 1400m race at Gatton tomorrow.

Saturday's race meeting was the last in the current racing year. The 2019-20 season will start at Allman Park with a race meeting on August 20.
