Traditional buns are a local hit

MOVE over chocolate Easter eggs, another sweet treat is stealing the Easter feast limelight.

Cutty's Cakes in Coffs Harbour sold more than 720 hot cross buns on Thursday and baked plenty more for all to enjoy over the long weekend.

The traditional Easter sweet dominated Cutty's glass display cabinets accompanied by marshmallow Easter bunnies and other holiday-themed baked goods.

Owner Kaylene Cutmore credits her family's long-standing hot cross bun recipe for the bun's ongoing popularity within the community.

"We don't put heavy spices or peels in them, it's just a nice fluffy bun with some spice," she said.
