POLICE were waiting on Monday night on the results of a post mortem to determine how Melbourne toddler Sanaya Sahib died as community members placed flowers and toys at a makeshift memorial for the 15-month-old.

The little girl's body was found at Darebin Creek in Heidelberg West on Sunday.

Her mother, Sofina Nikat, 22, said the baby was grabbed from a pram by an unknown man on Saturday morning.

Detectives and forensic officers on Monday searched the property where Sanaya had been staying before she died. - ARM NEWSDESK
