Claims councillor breached council code

COUNCILLOR Sally Townley is in hot water after reportedly breaking a code of council conduct at Thursday's council meeting.

Mayor Denise Knight said Cr Townley breached the code by "mentioning things that are commercial-in-confidence".

Cr Knight is considering reporting the violation to the Department of Local Government. The decision, Cr Knight said, won't be made lightly with Cr Townley to face serious consequences if found guilty of misconduct.

"I need to re-look at it and listen to the minutes and make sure I am on solid ground. If there is a code of conduct breached, I feel I'm not doing my job unless I address it," Cr Knight said.

Cr Townley denied she had breached the code.

"I didn't reveal the sum. The sum in question is commercial in-confidence so I don't see that I've breached that," she said.
