Top teams from Warwick hockey donate money to flood appeal

HOCKEY: Allora forward Matthew Hagenbach was part of the Red Schwars team from Redcliffe which won the Condamine Sports Club Vets Nines grand final at Queens Park.

Twenty two games were played on a weekend where motel accommodation was totally booked out in Warwick due to major hockey, rugby league and motor racing events.

Soon after leaving school, Hagenbach played Brisbane top grade hockey with Redcliffe and was the one Warwick Hockey Association player in the winning team.

Red Schwars won 1-0 in the final after scoring in the first five minutes of the 15-minute a half game.

The most moving moment of the weekend was when the two captains of the grand final teams donated all the $1000 prizemoney to the Townsville Hockey Association which was hit heavily in the floods.
