COFFS Harbour's 331SQN Senior Cadet, Cadet Under Officer Michael Graham-Higgs has been selected to represent the Squadron and the Australian Air Force Cadets on an International Air Cadet Exchange to Canada in July.

It has been an eventful year for Michael. In January he gave up half his school holidays to attend an intensive 3 weeks of training at RAAF Base Wagga. Success on this course then led to promotion from Cadet Flight Sergeant to Cadet Under Officer.

'When I first nominated for the Exchange Program I was hopeful of being selected however never anticipated I would be assigned Canada, which is one of the most popular destinations' said Michael.

The International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) Program came into being in 1947 when Canada and the UK arranged a bi-lateral exchange of air cadets. The scheme has now grown to a membership of over 20 countries including the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, France Korea and the Netherlands.

The focus of the exchange is to encourage international understanding, co-operation and goodwill between young people from many different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, with a central theme of aviation.

CUO Graham-Higgs fulfilled the role of Squadron Guard Commander in the Catafalque Party at the Masonic Lodge ANZAC Ceremony, the Sawtell Dawn, Coffs Harbour Main and also the Sawtell Main and also at the Bishop Druitt College ANZAC Ceremony.
