Top four cemented in Group 2 Rugby League

AN INJECTION from Grafton Ghosts interchange forward Carlton Elliott was enough to turn the momentum in the visitors favour as they stormed to a 54-18 victory against Macksville Sea Eagles.

Ghosts captain-coach Danny Wicks said it was a new-look Macksville outfit from the side Grafton beat 108-0 at Frank McGuren Field back in May.

"They had a few new forwards in the side and we always knew they were going to come out hard at us,” he said.

The Coffs Comets will this Sunday face-off against Grafton for the Clem Rankin Memorial Shield on Sunday.

Taking a look at the first grade ladder and after 14 round it appears the top four is very much cemented.

The Ghosts sit undefeated on top of the competition on 28 points.

The Comets are second on 23 points with nine wins.

South Grafton Rebels are third on 21 points with nine wins.

Rounding out the top is Sawtell with eight wins and 20 points.

Woolgoolga, Macksville and Orara Valley all sit on 11 points and Nambucca and Bellingen remain on the foot of the ladder.

This week's other matches see Orara host Macksville, Nambucca Heads play Bellingen and Sawtell take on South Grafton with Woolgoolga fielding the bye.
