Toowoomba residents call for weed legalisation after ACT law

THE Chronicle's Facebook readers have overwhelmingly supported the Australian Capital Territory's push to legalise cannabis in the territory.

The ACT Parliament yesterday passed legislation decriminalising the use of cannabis, allowing people to legally have 50g of the drug in their possession and grow up to two plants per household.

The Federal Government, also based in Canberra, has competing cannabis laws, which could, if challenged in court could overrule the new ACT laws.

The Chronicle yesterday asked its readers on Facebook if it supported the new law, with the majority of commenters saying they did and that they'd like to see it introduced in Queensland.
