Toowoomba boy helps ‘stirrup’ support for stable

AT 11-years-old, Andrew Burke has already developed a strong social conscience.

After reading about Toowoomba's Riding for the Disabled Association and the service it provides, Andrew felt inspired to offer his support.

With the help of his grandad Andy Burke and the family business Burke Industries, Andrew is now a proud sponsor of a horse at the stables.

"I felt sad thinking about the dry weather and that the horses might not get enough feed," Andrew said.

"Disabled people don't have the same opportunities as we do, and it's important that everyone is treated the same."

The sponsorship money will be used for the maintenance of Kegs, a pony at the stable.

"For an 11-year-old boy to be thinking of others, it gives me a lot of faith in our future," RDA volunteer Barbara Rathmell said.
