Toormina man bail refused

A TOORMINA man nabbed after a weekend crime spree in Coffs Harbour appeared briefly in court yesterday.

Mathew James Maton, 22, is charged with 15 counts of break, enter and steal, two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of larceny.

Some of these allegations date back to May 1.

Maton's solicitor Michael Bladwell did not seek bail, which was formally refused.

Magistrate Judith Fleming adjourned the case for plea or mention to June 9, when Maton will appear via videolink from jail. Police arrested a Toormina youth, 17, over the alleged break-ins but she was later released without charge.

  • IN other news, the man charged with the murder of Macksville's Adam Flarrety faced court this week.

Brendon Lynch, 24, of Stuarts Point, faced Port Macquarie Local Court on Monday via videolink. He was remanded in custody until June 18.
