Tom and Jesse put on amazing stand in rep cricket clash

EVEN a Test cricketer would dream of being part of a double century partnership.

So you can understand why there's so much excitement in Coffs Harbour District junior ranks about what transpired in the visit to the crease by Jesse Buckle and Tom Neal in the under-12 representative clash with Clarence Valley.

Coming together at 2-23 in the ninth over, the pair went on to contribute a 220 run partnership that's the envy not just of their mates, but their first grade cricketing dads, Rod and Chris, at Sawtell Blue Caps.

The partnership was eventually in the 47th over but by that stage Tom was unbeaten on 134 while Jesse had chipped in with a tasty 73.

"Not bad considering Jesse is still only 10 and Tom has just turned 12," proud dad Rod Buckle said.

Coffs Harbour recorded 268 to prevail over a Clarence side who didn't stop trying all day despite being bowled out for a total of 63.

In the other rep matches, Coffs under-16's had a good win by nine runs after being forced to defend a mediocre total of 113.

Coffs under-14's went down to Clarence by seven wickets after batting first on a tricky surface.
