Toastmasters welcome diverse group

FOR most people the thought of speaking in front of a crowded room fills them with dread, but a local club is helping people face their fears.

The Rockhampton Boomerang Toastmasters Club was established in 1972 and has almost doubled its membership in the last year.

Former Toastmasters president Robert Rooney said the club is inclusive and has something for everyone.

"Toastmasters is truly a community club,” Robert said.

"We have a diverse group of people attended our meetings including business people looking to network, people looking to overcome their fear of public speaking and graduates looking to hone their public speaking skills.”

In the last year the Rockhampton Toastmasters have emceed many local events such as the Botanical Gardens Open Day, CQ Sports Expo, Australia Day Heritage Village Festival and Rockhampton Relay for Life with more events planned in the future.

For more information about joining the club contact 0427 311 430.
