Tinto out to put Sydney campaign back on track

TOOWOOMBA mare Tinto will look to get her Sydney autumn campaign back on the rails when she returns from a minor setback to contest today's Group One George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill.

Tinto was forced to bypass one of her major Sydney targets last Saturday after trainer Rex Lipp elected to scratch her from the Group One Coolmore Classic after a pre-race "hiccup".

Lipp will revert to Plan B today when the five-year-old makes her weight-for-age debut against a select field en route to possible starts in the Doncaster Handicap, Queen Elizabeth Stakes or Queen Of The Turf.

Tinto faces a huge step in class today after her latest run in the Group Two Guy Walter at Randwick three weeks ago.

"The A plan went haywire when we scratched last week but she needs to have a run and with nothing suitable in Brisbane for her the George Ryder was our best option," Lipp said.

"It's a tough ask, but she'll race well.

"A lot will depend on the weather and things will change if more rain comes through.

"The main thing is she is good in herself and we'll take things from tomorrow."

Tinto has been listed as an early $51 chance behind $1.70 favourite Winx.
