Time to scan your bowel

IT ISN’T an attractive topic but annual colon screening reduces the mortality rate of related cancers by 33 per cent. With Annual Bowelscan Week, March 5-12, the process is made easier with kits available to use in the privacy of your home.

Bowel cancer kills 12 to 15 Australians every day but is curable through early detection. If you are more than 35-years-old it is recommended you start annual screening.

The awareness week is run by Rotary as a community service to assist in the early detection of colon cancer and the program is in its 27th year in Coffs Harbour.

The Rotary kits cost just $8 and are available from the following local pharmacies:

Palms Pharmacy at Palm Centre, Guardian Moonee Beach Pharmacy at Moonee, Northside Wholelife Pharmacy at North Side, Good Price Pharmacy at the Bailey Centre, Jetty Village Pharmacy at Coffs Harbour Jetty and Terry White Pharmacy at Park Beach Plaza, Focus Pharmacy at Sawtell, Amcal Pharmacy at Boambee and Blooms Chemist at Toormina.
