FARMER FRIENDLY: December 21 is the last day to apply for small farmer partnership grants.

THURSDAY at 2pm is the deadline to apply for a Small Farming Partnership grant from the $1 billion National Landcare Program.

Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker, issued a final call for farming, fishing and forestry organisations with innovative and sustainable ideas about how to better manage land to improve soil quality and vegetation to submit applications as soon as possible.

"Grants of between $250,000 and $4 million are available to help land management and farming groups take good ideas to the next level,” he said.

"Farmers care for 61 per cent of our landmass and have a reputation for sustainable and innovative land management.

"The government is backing farmers' natural instincts to care for the land and supporting innovation leading to improved soils, vegetation and biodiversity.

"This helps farmers be productive and profitable and with December 21 fast approaching, I encourage organisations with a vision for improving prosperity while protecting Australian land for future generations to get their applications in as a matter of priority.”
