Time running out to apply for funding grants

ANY Mackay charities and not for profit organisations who need a funding boost for upcoming projects - the Macrossan & Amiet Charitable Foundation wants to hear from you.

The foundation is calling on local charitable or not for profit organisations to apply for funding from the 2019 round of grants.

These funds will assist with community-based projects in the Mackay/Whitsunday area.

A successful applicant last year was YIRS Mackay Alternative Learning School. The funding enabled four Year 12 students to complete their senior year of school and successfully gain their Year 12 equivalency.

Extracurricular activities included teen mental health first aid, computer coding, robotic building, Muay Thai boxing, cooking and guitar lessons.

The $10,000 donation was also used to purchase four robotic sets and a counting system.

"The funding was essential in assisting disengaged young people the opportunity to complete their education in a safe and supported environment” service manager YIRS One Stop Youth Shop, Dee Chapman said.

Groups with local projects which need funding can download an application form and information brochure from www.macamiet.com.au/foundation,email foundation@macamiet.com.au or by contacting the Secretary Mr Stuart Naylor 4944 2000.

Applications close 30 June 2019.
