Thrilling end to Oz Tag season
THERE were some upsets in the grand finals that signalled the end of the Oz Tag summer competition.
In Mixed A Grade Red Electrical defeated an under-manned Chicken Butchery 9-7.
Emma Horan and Rob Partridge played an important role in their team’s win scoring five points between them. Chicken Butchery put up a great fight and were leading the game at half time with Lucas Grace scoring three tries for his team but Red Electrical were too strong.
In Mixed B, Bounty Group Roofing got the upset win defeating the minor premiers Precious Petals 9-5.
Bounty Group got three early tries against the Petals which proved too hard to come back from.
Jarrod Few and Adrian Sly scored five tries between them helping their team to the win.
Michelle Dunks scored two points and Tyson Blanchard scoring also for the Petals.
In Mixed C Grade by far the most improved team for the season BCU defeated an under-manned Mr Rental 13-7.
Claire Mapledoram ran the length of the field to score one of her massive three tries for her team.
Mr Rental fought hard considering they only had six players with Kristy Craigie and Dekiah Craigie both scoring tries for their team.
In Men’s A Grade Hairemovers defeated the minor premiers Watsons Caravans 11-4.
Hairemovers proved just too strong for the premiers with Matt Cheeseman scoring a huge five tries for Hairemovers with both Brendan Meyers and Nowan Williams also scoring two tries each.
Watsons fought back with Brendan Currie and Mick Battye both scoring for Watsons but Hairemovers were too strong.
In Men’s B Grade, Martial Sports defeated Bacon 6-1 with Andrew Hoffman and Jerrrel Sakaio both scoring for Martial Sports.
Bacon hung in there but Martial Sports’ defense was just too good with Luke Hemsworth scoring Bacons only try.
In Men’s C Grade, Clark Rubber were too fast for Signwise defeating them 5-3 in a very close game. The game was 2-all at half time so the second half was anyone’s.
With Jordan Dyson, Trent Lakeman, Lucas Grace and Nathan Grace all scoring tries for Clark Rubber. Signwise are renowned for their defence and continued with this as Steve Drew scoring two tries for his team. In Men’s D Grade DFA Financial finally broke their drought and defeated Northern Beaches Physio 9-4.
DFA were extremely strong with the whole team contributing to the win with Grant Bremner, Peter Shaw, Dylan Sambrook and Mark Weiley all scoring for DFA. Northern Beaches never gave up with Dale Graham, Paul Butcher and Aaron Miller all scoring for their team.
