Three drivers caught drink-driving on Christmas Day
A POLICE operation at the foot of the Toowoomba Range on Christmas Day targeting driving offences resulted in a number of motorists being charged with traffic offences including three drink-drivers.
As part of Operation 5 Alive which is aimed at reducing the number of fatalities on our roads in the Southern Police Region, Toowoomba police set up a random breath testing and licence check unit on both the east and west-bound lanes of the Warrego Hwy at Withcott this morning.
During the operation which ran from 5am, three drivers with breath/alcohol readings of 0.129, 0.055 and 0.069 respectively were handed notices to appear in court, one motorist was found to be driving while disqualified and four drivers were caught speeding including one clocked at 103khr in a 60khr zone.
Police are urging motorists to be responsible and drive to the conditions and speed zones and under no circumstances get behind the wheel of a vehicle if over the breath/alcohol limit.
