This is how to hang on

WHEN you picture an elderly gentlemen taking part in his favourite recreation out on the water, windsurfing might not be the first activity that comes to mind.

But until recently, that's just what 83-year-old Arnie Jackson loved doing.

Reader Kirsty Huls snapped this picture of Arnie, showing plenty of younger people just how to age gracefully.

Kirsty said Arnie has now packed away his sails for the last time, but we're sure his passion for it hasn't wavered.

"This is Arnie Jackson on his windsurfer down in the harbour," Kirsty said.

"He is 83 years old. He came to Australia in the 1950s as a young man from Switzerland."

He now lives in the Roselands Estate, Coffs Harbour, but did most of his windsurfing on the Central Coast out from Terrigal Sailing Club.

Well done, Arnie, on being an example to us all.
