Thieves used semi trailer as bridge at Limestone Rd property

BIZARRE facts have come to light following the discovery of a mammoth haul of stolen property at a Limestone Rd property in Struck Oil.

A semi-trailer, which was owned by Busby's Transport, was among more than $500,000 worth of vehicles, equipment and other items which were found at the site.

While before its theft the semi-trailer was used to transport goods, that wasn't the purpose to which it was put at the Struck Oil property.

It was in fact used as a makeshift bridge.

The semi-trailer was stolen from Busby's former Port Curtis depot over the Easter break in late April.

At the time of the theft, the semi was fully loaded with product and valued at more than $250,000.

A prime mover was also stolen and used to transport the semi-trailer, but was later located at Morinish.

Rockhampton criminal investigation bureau's Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Moon confirmed the semi-trailer had been pushed into a creek bed and buried in dirt to form a bridge across a creek at the Struck Oil property.

The semi-trailer was dug out of the creek bed and handed over to an insurance company.

The discovery of the semi-trailer was bitter-sweet for Busby's Transport manager Pat Busby.

"It belongs to the insurance company now," Mr Busby said.

"It was a custom-built trailer so with that kind of thing, you don't really ever get your money back."

Further discoveries at the property included 13 stolen cars, firearms, jewellery and various other items.

Charges over the discovery of the huge haul of stolen goods are yet to be laid as investigations are ongoing.
