Thieves at work around Coffs

A HAIRDRESSER in Toormina Road is less some funds after thieves broke in and raided the cash register on Monday night.

Between 8pm Monday and 6am yesterday, thieves broke into the salon by smashing the ground floor door before taking an amount of money from the till.

MEANTIME thieves were out and about in Aubrey Crescent on Monday night.

They climbed through the front window of one residence before taking a wallet from the kitchen.

Then, at 9.20pm, two males were seen loitering at the rear of another premises, allegedly attempting to gain entry through a rear window.

Bomb hoax

POLICE are looking for a malicious caller after a man reported a hoax bomb scare on a train halfway between Coffs Harbour and Grafton on Monday night.

Police said the caller rang the railway company and told them he'd overhead two passengers discussing blowing up the train.

Police were contacted and the train was stopped at 9.20pm in Kungala, halfway between Coffs Harbour and Grafton.
