Theft of horse rugs ‘a low act’: Owner

SHIVER ME TIMBERS: Gypsy faces a cold end to winter without a rug.

THIEVES have added to the already substantial agistment bill of a local single mum by stealing the only source of warmth for her horses .

On Sunday night Michelle Johnson prepared her horses, Holly and Gypsy, for yet another cold night by rugging them around 3pm.

On Monday morning the rugs were gone.

While annoyed the rugs had been stolen, Michelle was more appalled by the lack of regard the thieves displayed for the freezing animals. "I am disgusted by this low act," she said.

"For this to happen when the horses need the protection of rugs the most is just disgraceful."

As Michelle is already struggling with a huge vet bill, she said she simply could not afford to replace the rugs.

Michelle said she would welcome any information about the possible whereabouts of a large green rug, the second rug being brown and fawn.

She can be contacted on 0429 801 915.
