The cult toy that lets you 'pop pimples' as much as you want

ANYONE who has seen those gross viral videos knows that people are fascinated by popping pimples.

So one couple in the US, Billy and Summer Pierce, has decided to take advantage of this modern obsession and create the Pop it Pal - a silicone slab with 15 "pimples", which you can squeeze "pus" out of.

Behold, the Pop it Pal.

It's proven to be something of an overnight success. The Facebook page has 5600 fans and people are calling for them to make a blackhead version. They are struggling to meet the high number of orders (which is currently causing a delay on shipping).

FastCompany declares that this wacky item could become the new fidget spinner:

"Given the massive popularity of fidget spinners last year, the Pop it Pal is certainly an interesting, if not a little gross, next-gen solution for people with idle hands."

Inventor Billy Pierce explains the genesis of his product on the website.

"Make no mistake about it, we love that disgusting little habit nobody likes to talk about. Yup, it is our unique obsession ... and I have a feeling it might be yours too," he writes.

"Don't worry. You've found your safe haven here in our little spot in the great big Digiworld.

"You see, one day, my wife and I were driving down the road. She said, 'How awesome would it be if we could make a pimple that felt real and the pop was huge, just like those videos we watch?'

"I thought, 'You might be on to something, dear.'"

"Maybe, just maybe, this means she would STOP picking on me all the time. Ladies and Gentlemen, I KNOW you know what I'm talking about.

"So, I spent the next year figuring out how to make it happen."

Jenna McLaughlin is a fan of the Pop it Pal.

"I cannot stop playing with this gross, satisfying little toy," she writes on the product's Facebook page.

"I would recommend this to anyone who loves to pop gross things for their own enjoyment. Great stress reliever."

The bad news is they can't deliver the product to Australia in time for Valentine's Day - because nothing screams "I love you" like a fistful of pus.

The Pop it Pal retails for $US19.99 ($25.50) and shipping to Australia is $US23.50 ($A30).

A bottle or replacement "pimple pus" will set you back $US5.99 ($A7.70).
