Australia's oldest beauty queen still turning heads
AUSTRALIA'S oldest beauty queen wowed the judges at the Mrs Earth 2017 pageant in Las Vegas, giving her a third-place prize to bring home to the Gold Coast.
Suzi Dent, 55, beat out beauties from 36 countries to claim the title of Mrs Earth Health 2017 - a title awarded to the delegate who best represents a positive image for all women, and a healthy mind, body and spiritual realm, regardless of their size or age.
"Apparently I beat women who won Miss World! Just goes to show that personality and 'being real' really do count," Suzi said.
"As the reigning Mrs Earth Health 2017, I aim to promote mental, physical and emotional awareness by showing that I'm comfortable in my own skin, and in a healthy mind, body and spirit at all times."
Before Mrs Earth Australia, Suzi's tomboy demeanour meant she had never worn a formal gown, but she has a strong belief that the opportunities you are given in life should be accepted and cherished.
Even if it means throwing away the shorts and joggers for sequinned frocks and high heels.
"I want to help other women celebrate and embrace being over 50. I'm a natural beauty, not a user of Botox or fillers, and try to embrace a healthy mind and body with regular exercise and good nutrition," Suzi said.
"I am hoping to inspire women to stop paying attention to their age number, and be fearless about making changes in their lives, and to celebrate their wrinkles, life experiences and knowledge."
The Mrs Earth 2017 pageant prize has provided a platform for Suzi to spread awareness.
She works closely with Soles4Souls, a charity that collects lightly worn shoes and distributes them in countries around the world.
