The most festival fun is all hot air

IMAGINE watching all the action and catching all the rhythms of the Bellingen Jazz and Blues Festival highlight event, Jazz by the River, from a hot air balloon.

Well, subject to weather conditions, that's one of the fun things available at the festival on Sunday, August 17 when the RAAF will be offering free tethered balloon flights.

With less than two weeks to go before the festival kicks off the countdown is on for what promises to be a fantastic foot-tapping weekend.

Sunday is the big day when all the bands perform down by the river at Jarrett Park.

The program opens at 9.30am with the big bold sounds of Bellingen's own Big Band featuring the fabulous Swing Sisters.

They will be followed by Jo's Wizards of Jazz, Dale Barlow's Organic Groovy Cool Jazz Daddios and Carol Ralph's Legends of Jazz.

Guitar maestro Jeff Lang will round the afternoon off at 2.30pm.

So grab a picnic, bring the family and enjoy.

Tickets for the day are $35 and can be purchased either online or at the gate.

Buses will run from Coffs Harbour (via Park Beach and Toormina) and Nambucca (via Urunga) specifically for this event. One-way tickets are $5 and advance bookings are necessary.
