Letter to the Editor - Saturday, March 19:Gas price crippling

WHY do Coffs Coast residents have to pay significantly higher prices for fuel than people who live in Sydney?

Currently the lowest price for LPG in Coffs Harbour is 78.8 cents per litre, which has remained this high for six months or more.

However, the Saudi Arabia price, which for some reason our Australian price is fixed on, has dropped by over 50% since late 2014.

What is the government doing about ensuring fuel companies are not milking the urban Australians dry?

LPG prices at the bowser should be below 60 cents per litre in both Sydney and the country, but we are paying premium prices.

Obviously, a higher price at the bowser means a greater tax paid by voters to the government.

Is that representing your voters?

I have contacted both state and federal government representatives in the past raising this issue and wish that they would act on behalf of locals to ensure using a fuel that emits less than 25% greenhouse gases is not at a financial cost.
