THE Coffs Harbour showgrounds was abuzz over the weekend with motocross riders from NSW and Queensland setting the track alight over Saturday.

The showgrounds were literally transformed throughout last week from a useless patch of space to a motorbike haven for junior riders all over the two states.

The annual Coffs Motorcycle club Stadium MX looks set to be a permanent fixture on the Coffs Harbour calendar and is a valuable addition to the regions large motocross following.

Donna Craig from the Coffs Motorcycle Club and event organiser said that it was important to have these kinds of events in Coffs as it benefits not only the local economy, but also gets kids out and about on a motorbike.

"Coffs Harbour has one of the biggest motorbike followings on the East Coast, so it made perfect sense to have the event here," Ms Craig said.

"It was a great success for everyone who participated in the event. We have received very positive feedback from it," she said.
