The best way for all families to mark a new year of hope
IT'S one of the Coffs Coast's signature events which keeps getting bigger every year.
The hugely popular Sawtell Super Fun Day attracts as many as 5000 people to celebrate the year that was and to look forward to the next 12 months of promise.
Featuring woodchopping, novelty races, market stalls and carnival rides, the event celebrates a century of history.
The New Year's Day event began when locals met with travelling railway workers constructing the North Coast rail line for a day of fun and games.
After a fun run and main street procession down First Ave from 10am, the festivities move to the Sawtell Reserve, opposite the town's tennis courts.
A highlight will be the naming of the Sawtellian of the Year.
