The band plays on after 50 years

FOR half a century, the Coffs Coast Pipes and Drums have entertained Coffs Coast audiences - and past and present members and supporters can help celebrate.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Coffs Harbour Pipe Band's first official playout, and to celebrate the band will hold a reunion dinner at the Coffs Ex Services Club on Saturday, March 28.

Any past and present members and supporters are invited to join them.

To start the weekend of celebration the current band will perform under the sails in the City Centre around 11am, then at the steps of the Coffs Ex-Services Club at 5.30pm to welcome guests to the seafood banquet reunion.

Sunday will see a a recovery barbecue at the Jetty Foreshores from 10.30am.

The band is a community-based band and loves to perform at a variety of events throughout the city as it has for the past 50 years.

Do you have a family member interested in learning the bagpipes? Anyone aged 12 and above is welcome to come along to the beginners' lessons any Tuesday from 6pm at the Air Cadets hall.
