RENOWNED Mackay designer Jason Chetcuti is bound for Texas.

He will be packing a bit of extra luggage for the trip, with about 30 gowns making the journey with him - bound for an event called Aussie Threads.

The charity fashion show will be at Crowne Plaza Houston-Downtown, raising money for Revive to Survive.

Chetcuti said it would be his first major fashion show overseas and he was headlining the event.

"To take what was happening locally to a global stage is really fun," he said.

"The event is called Aussie Threads as a bit of an homage to a designer coming from Australia.

"I'm extremely busy just finishing off pieces for clients and organising finishing touches on the dresses (for the showcase)."

Also appearing at the show will be Delmonicole Clothing by Latarsha Williams.

Chetcuti said he was thrilled to be asked to show his designs at the event and was excited to be the headline. All money raised will go to the aid of cancer care in Sri Lanka.

Aussie Threads will be shown on June 13.

Meanwhile, Chetcuti is also preparing for Mackay Fashion Week where he will showcase his collection on October 10.

Other events on during the week include the VIP Spring Fashion Launch and Streets of Style.
