Teenage girls risk their lives in Coast swell stunt

SHOCKING photos show two girls - who appear to be in their teens - clinging to a rock as waves from strong swells crash around them.

Despite warnings all weekend about hazardous surf conditions, the girls could have easily been one of the more than 50 people surf lifesavers were tasked to rescue today.

Brant Hardgrave took the photo about 10.40am at the northern end of the Mooloolaba Beach car park and said they "must have been bracing themselves".

Fortunately the pair "walked away possibly scratched, but otherwise uninjured", according to Mr Hardgrave.

Swell conditions have closed more than 13 beaches on the Sunshine Coast today and a hazardous surf warning released by the Bureau of Meteorology is in place until tomorrow.
