Teen sexually assaulted on beach
CHILD Abuse Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance as they investigate the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on Boambee Beach earlier this year.
Police were told the assault took place on the beach at Toormina on April 18 between 8 and 9pm.
It's believed the incident happened near a spot where a number of young people were socialising in bushland at the southern end of Boambee Beach.
A man with whom police would like to speak about the incident is described as being 18 to 21 years old, of Caucasian appearance, and with brown hair.
Police believe the man may have been a resident of the Boambee or Toormina area and may have been driving a late-1990s model Hyundai Excel with poor quality black paintwork.
Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad are investigating the matter and are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
They believe a number of young people in the area at the time of the incident have not yet spoken to police and may be able to assist with the investigations.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
Police said information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
