Teen remains in hospital after crash that killed his friend

A COAST teenager remains at a Brisbane hospital after a horrific head-on crash that killed his friend almost two weeks ago.

The Bruce Highway crash at Childers took the life of 18-year-old Bailey Pleydell, from Sippy Downs, while five other Coast residents were injured.

Dane Nightingale was driving a blue Yaris to a weekend away with Mr Pleydell and Jonty Miles, who remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Mr Miles, from Buderim, was thrown from a rear seat of the car on impact and flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition before undergoing multiple surgeries.

In the second car was a Nambour family.

A 40-year-old woman and her 18-year-old daughter were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the 56-year-old male driver was not physically injured in the crash.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said investigations into the crash were ongoing, and no charges had been laid.
