Teen on the Gold Coast doused in petrol and set alight

A TEENAGER has been rushed to hospital with serious burns on the Gold Coast.

Police are investigating how the 18-year-old came to receive the burns and are seeking to identify anyone who may have travelled past the victim's silver Toyota Camry with NSW number plate BM 52 VZ on Baratta Street in Southport at about 7:45am.

The man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Fairfax media reports he was doused in petrol and set alight. and has burns to 18% of his body including his face, chest and arms.

The incident is not believed to be schoolies related.
