Teen faces court after wild ride

A TEENAGER has been charged after a police car was rammed by a stolen vehicle in Nambucca Heads.

Police allege the youth failed to stop after the accident and led officers on a pursuit to Macksville.

The arrest happened after officers spotted a red Hyundai Excel in Riverside Dr, Nambucca Heads, on Wednesday morning about 2.30am.

Police said the vehicle was seen travelling alongside a silver hatchback as passengers in both vehicles exchanged words. Officers approached and their patrol vehicle was allegedly run into by the Hyundai.

Police activated sirens and lights and indicated for the car to pull over, but the driver allegedly sped off and led police on a chase to Macksville.

The vehicle, which was later found to be stolen, pulled over in Ferry St and the driver and a passenger fled on foot.

A teenager, who police allege was the driver, was caught by officers and taken into custody.

He is facing car theft, dangerous driving and pursuit charges.
