Teen charged over alleged home invasion and sex offences

A TEENAGER has been charged following an alleged home invasion and sexual offences in Kempsey last week.

At About 5.30am last Thursday, a 61-year-old woman was sleeping in her home on River St, when the teen allegedly broke in and stole cash and jewellery.

The woman woke to find the teen next to her bed, allegedly armed with a kitchen knife.

The teen then allegedly indecently assaulted the woman before leaving the scene.

Detectives attached to Mid North Coast Local Area Command and the State Crime Command Sex Crimes Squad were notified and commenced Strike Force Kelray to investigate the incident.

Following investigations, about 4pm yesterday detectives arrested a teenage boy at South Kempsey.

The 15-year-old teen was taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was charged with several offences including aggravated break and enter, indecent assault and robbery whilst armed with a weapon.

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today.
