Teen charged for assaulting taxi driver
DETECTIVES have charged a teenage boy in connection to an alleged violent attempted robbery and assault, which left a well-known Sarina taxi driver in a critical condition.
On Monday, Sarina detectives charged a 15-year-old boy with attempted robbery with actual violence in connection to the alleged brutal assault of Sarina Limousine Service driver John May on Friday, March 6.
Mr May was found near death by passing motorists after his vehicle had crashed into a power pole on Brewers Rd.
A police spokesman said the young man was also charged with previous offences, including enter premises and commit an indictable offence and enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence.
Police said Mr May was transported in a critical condition to Mackay Base Hospital, where he was still in recovery.
The 15-year-old boy will appear in Mackay Childrens’ Court.
