Teams pen their hopes

ROUND 'em up, ladies and gents.

The Mid North Coast Team Penning Association invites all western horse and sports fans to its next competition this Sunday at Macksville Showground.

The office will open from 8am to start signing on, with organisers aiming for a 9am start.

"As usual, the event is weather- dependent, so give us a ring if it has been raining," publicist Phil Grace said.

"Our contact numbers are on our website www.mnctpa.com along with heaps of other information about team penning.

"If you use that Facebook thing, we have a group page as well, so jump on and say 'good day'."

Spectators can be assured of competitors going all out during this meeting as it will be the last day to practise before the Australian championships in Tamworth from September 22.

"Our club has become affiliated with Team Penning Australia, based in Tamworth, and this has allowed us to join the national competition," Grace revealed.

"We will field six or seven teams and as this is only the second year it has been run, our club is very excited to be involved in the early stages of national expansion. Team penning has been running for some 13 years but is only now enjoying a flourish of interest and popularity across the rest of the country.

"The Mid North Coast club has been running for about seven years and still enjoys strong support from the founding members and we have a steady stream of new members joining every month.

"So, if you have a bit of time on Sunday, come on out to the showground and see what all the fuss is about.

"I'm sure you'll love it as much as we do."
