Teams await start of cricket

COFFS Harbour District's 2011-12 summer of cricket is just over one week away.

President Ken Robinson is doing the last-minute adjustment to the draw, ready for play to start on Saturday, October 8.

Premiers Park Beach Bowling Club Colts are early-season favourites again despite president Neil Coogan announcing the retirement of one of the association's greatest all-rounders.

"Daryl Parmenter has packed away his gear, and while there will always be talk of a comeback, this time he says it's time to spend time with the family," he said.

"We're continuing our build-up and once the draw is on the website, up and away we go again."

Urunga is back in first grade and will pick up more than a few handy up-and-comers as Bellingen drops back a grade.

Sawtell, Diggers, Tigers and Dorrigo make up the full contingent of clubs.
