Teachers can apply for share of awards worth $90,000

FRASER Coast teachers are being encouraged to apply for School, Principal or School Leadership Team of the Year awards and the chance to share in $90,000 worth of grants in the new Jack Pizzey Awards.

Maryborough MP Anne Maddern said the the government was committed to promoting the professional knowledge and skills of teachers.

"We've established this new award to recognise the work of teachers", she said.

"Teachers and those who aspire to be teachers can also apply for a range of Queensland Government scholarships and grants".

The Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders entering a teacher education program, the Aspiring Teacher Grant for high-achieving Year 12 students and Step into Teaching Scholarships for those interested in becoming science, mathematics and industrial technology and design teachers are available.

Nominations are open now and close on November 21 for the Jack Pizzey Awards and on December 8 for the other programs.
