STEPPING Stones to Success is a program to give people survival skills to deal with their drug or alcohol-dependent relatives.

The award-winning Family Drug Support program will be held in Coffs Harbour over two weekends on August 6-7 and August 13-14, led by FDS group leader and program manager Theo Chang.

This is the first time since 2009 that the program has been offered on the Coffs Coast and that course was fully booked.

Stepping Stones requires a minimum of 10 people to run, but groups are generally limited to around 15 people.

Among those who completed the 2009 program are Coffs Coast couple Jack and Joan (not their real names).

One of their three children, Tom, has been dependent on a variety of drugs for more than 20 years and is now in his 30s.

They said this week they had been through 20 years of hell by the time they attended Stepping Stones.
