Symphony an Australiana tour de force
THE Symphony of Australia is a remarkable, Australiana-themed musical production coming to the Town Green at the Coffs Harbour Showgrounds on Saturday, June 6.
A unique concert event that is a fusion of iconic Australian bush poetry, an exhilarating orchestral ensemble, and soaring operatic and choral singing, the Symphony of Australia will be one of those magical moments likely to remain etched into people's memories and conversations for a long time.
Renowned composer and producer Gavin Lockley has brought together a select orchestra and some exceptional singers to perform a fascinating show that could well be described as classical Australiana, with the best-loved Australian bush ballads brought to life in song.
Featuring Australian poetry from the likes of Banjo Paterson, Dorothea Mackellar, CJ Dennis and Henry Lawson, and combined with a cascade of stirring, emotive musical accompaniment, the production celebrates the nostalgia and romanticism we all have with this great land, its people, and our nation's vibrant history.
The show will also include some powerful and inspirational performances of the best-known and loved opera favourites that are sure to make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end.
The Symphony of Australia will feature international opera stars Renae Martin and Jose Carbo, along with the Australian Institute of Music Orchestra, conducted by maestro Gavin Lockley.
The events will also incorporate the Coffs Coast music community through the participation of local performance groups playing throughout the afternoon before the main act.
