Sydney Swans to return to Coffs for training camp
THE Sydney Swans will return to Coffs Harbour in February for a four-day pre-season training camp.
Fresh on the heels of the Manly Sea Eagles' pre-season training camp this week, the Swans announcement signals a fourth consecutive year the AFL club will make Novotel Pacific Bay Resort its temporary home.
While in Coffs Harbour from February 2 to 6, the Swans will organise two open training sessions at C.ex Coffs International Stadium while the players will host an AFL clinic for kids, visit schools, run a QBE Sydney Swans Academy session and enjoy some downtime in the area.
Coffs Harbour City Council, in conjunction with the Swans, will also host special guests at a function for Coffs Coast businesses and sport stakeholders.
Swans coach John Longmire says the trip will once again form an important part of the club's pre-season program as the club prepares for its opening NAB Challenge match against Port Adelaide on February 20.
"Coffs Harbour has become a home away from home over the last few years and we're really excited to get back up there for four days," Longmire said.
"With the pre-season competition not that far away, the camp will once again provide a great opportunity to finetune preparations ahead of what will no doubt be another huge year.
"I encourage all Swans fans from Coffs Harbour and surrounds to attend our open training sessions or come along to the kids' clinic and see the team in action."
A junior AFL clinic hosted by the Sydney Swans will be held at C.ex Coffs International Stadium on Wednesday, February 3.
