Swans exit leaves league in disarray
COFFS Harbour Swans' withdrawal from the 2013 AFL North Coast season has created a mountain of problems for the local senior competition.
League executives met on Thursday evening to work out a way through what is shaping as a tough season.
League executive spokesman Terry Guthrie put a positive spin on the situation, saying it was likely to be only a short-term problem.
"The Swans have had a couple of difficult years but have a solid committee behind them," Guthrie said.
"We fully expect to see them back in 2014.
"The league may have to make some amendments to its fixtures for the remaining rounds and that process is under discussion at present."
Until the league's scheduling is resolved, there is only the one senior game of Aussie rules on the North Coast this weekend.
Under-18 and reserve grade games are being played at Leisure Park - between North Coffs and Camden Haven - and at Fitzroy Oval where the Swans and Sawtell do battle from 11.15am.
