Surf camp places filling fast

WITH the new school year kicking off and routines back in full swing, places are filling fast for the inaugural Billabong Surf Camp at Coffs Harbour.

For all surfers aged between six and 16 years, this camp is seen as a terrific opportunity to learn, develop confidence in the water, improve skills, meet new friends and have some serious fun with Billabong's top male and female team riders.

Local North Coast and former WCT Pro Tour Surfers Lee Winkler and Trent Munro and top Australian big wave surfer Dylan Longbottom are three professional riders confirmed for the North Coast Camp.

The weekend long camp will be held at Park Beach Holiday Park starting on Saturday, February 28.

Previous Billabong Surf Camps have provided a very positive learning experience for the region's grommets through three unique Camp options with the one day, two day and the AAA Team overnight packages.

“Parents like to know that their children possess the necessary confidence, skills, ability and awareness to handle themselves in the ocean and this camp promises to help to provide this in the most safe and enjoyable way,” Billabong Surf Camps operator Brett Dowker said.

There will be a truck load of Billabong giveaways for the kids, beginning with the initial Billabong show bag and T-shirt as well as more than $2000 worth of major awards. Campers will also get the chance to shape their own team boards after watching the Pros.

The full two-day camp will cater for all surfing styles and ability levels, male and female (beginner, progressive through to advanced surfers) and will specialise in coaching those wishing to improve their surfing skills, knowledge and aquatic confidence.

All participants at this camp will have the opportunity to meet and hear from both current and past WCT Pro Surfers as well as a range of the country's Top Shapers like Dylan Longbottom.

One lucky young surfer will also walk away from the camp with a brand new custom made Billabong surfboard.

Essential skills are taught such as the ability to read the surf conditions (surf awareness), quality wave and board selection, paddle power, surf photography and video footage. Fun team work activities and group challenges such as surfing heats and skateboarding are also experienced through the delivery of this professional camp program.

All attendees will also have the chance to make new friends and compete across a range of initiative games and challenge activities.
