MOST winning crews from the Hoey Moey North Coast Surf Boat series will be in action at the Australian titles beginning today at Kurrawa Beach on the Gold Coast.
Spokesman Brook Down said the annual event will be another huge gathering.
“It’s massive, getting on the scale of an Olympic-sized competition with crews and boats from every state turning up,” he said.
Woopi finished North Coast club champions and the masters’ crews will be first into the water today.
“Our surf boat crews will spend the entire week at the champs and will go there with great results under their belts,” spokesman Trevor Clark said.
“We finished winners and placegetters in a number of grades last weekend to get us ready for this event which is a massive effort with all rowers and sweeps contributing to our success.
“All crews have been training extremely hard and often in the lead-up, so all will be in prime shape to give the competition a real shake.
“On behalf of the Woolgoolga club I’d like to wish ‘good luck’ to all our competitors and those others from the branch and I hope they can all get a share of the medals.”
