Wanted: One George Clooney for Cooran restaurant opening
TIN Can Bay's Jo Tempelman has come up with a hair-brained scheme for Chris Jurss' re-branded restaurant at Cooran.
Chris recently re-claimed her Cooran restaurant, Cybil's on King, and has re-branded it to Clooney's of Cooran.
Jo offered to help with the marketing and the first thing she did was ask Chris why she chose the name.
She said it was the closest she would ever get to her heart throb George Clooney.
Jo's imagination ran wild.
"Can you imagine how amazing it would be if George could officially open her restaurant and enjoy the hospitality of a gorgeous little piece of paradise called Cooran?" she asked.
And it did not stop there. Jo emailed Clooney's personal assistant and posted on the Ellen Degeneres Show's official Facebook page to enlist her help in persuading the film star to pay his namesake restaurant a visit.
"I know you wanted George Clooney on your show and finally snared him; enlisting help along the way to make it happen," Jo wrote.
"I am enlisting your help to persuade him to open Clooneys Restaurant."
Jo said the region could do with a boost and a visit from Clooney would do it.
"It would instantly invigorate the battling economy here with everyone visiting little Cooran for a piece of the George action. Let's start talking it up guys. We need something wild and wacky like this to happen."
To start the ball rolling, Gympie MP David Gibson took a photo of Chris and Jo and tweeted their plan on his Twitter account. He was in Cooran on a random visit to look at flood damage and he happily joined the campaign to get Clooney to open the restaurant. Time is running out, Chris aims to open the restaurant before Easter.
