Support business women around the table

NICOLE van Hattem has redefined the meaning of catching up.

The TEDx speaker, author and coach has been gathering women in cafes to uplift and empower each other in both life and small business. The latest Hot and Healthy Catch Up was held in Kawana - with the group meeting regularly.

"What's around the table is gold, every woman that attends has wisdom and knowledge to share. It's amazing," said Ms van Hattem.

She is all about women supporting other women in small businesses, which is why Ms van Hattem said cafes were the perfect location to host the catch ups instead of a conference room.

"Women often run businesses that are service based, which is why we meet in coffee shops.

"If we can support a woman's small business while catching up it's a win-win," she said.

Around the table, ladies from all walks of life share their experiences, ask questions and offer insightful suggestions to each other. The CEO said she decided against a membership program for an important reason.

"I don't want women to show up just because they have a membership, I want women to show up because they're passionate."

Love Thy Temple's Hayley Lingard is the organiser for the Kawana catch ups and said one of her favourite aspects of the group environment was the face-to-face interaction.

"Meeting women in person develops real conversations and connections. We're here when we need help and when we can help others," she said.

Ms van Hattem's goal by 2020 is to have one million women "around the table".

The next event will be on March 15 at Urban Espresso and Wine, Birtinya.
