Return of top players makes round six matches memorable

FOR me, the weekend was all about comebacks.

We have the comebacks from injury of three of the country's premier rugby players (who also happen to be Qlders), captain James 'Big Kev' Horwill, scrumhalf Will Genia and flyhalf Quade Cooper.

And let's not forget Luke Burgess, the erstwhile Wallaby number nine, who will make a comeback to Aussie rugby after signing a three-year deal with the Rebels.

Burgess has been playing for European powerhouse Toulouse for the last two years.

As for the three on their way back from injury, all are in differing stages of their comebacks.

For Big Kev he was industrious in his 40-minute effort after 10 months on the sideline with a dodgy hammy.

For Genia it was his second comeback match, and Cooper has been back for a while.

Genia and Cooper were at their most creative, entertaining and productive together.

Not only were they individually on their games, their work as a combination was most pleasing.

They were pivotal in making the Reds' two tries (with Cooper scoring the second), and in control in the majority of the Reds' attacking punches.

Their work to set up Jono Lance for his 31st minute try was world class.

All four comebacks augur well for Australian rugby, and should bring a smile to every Wallaby, Red and Rebels' supporter, and their respective coaches.
