Sunshine Coast singers out to turn chairs on The Voice

SUNSHINE Coast folk singers Benjamin James Caldwell and Sally Skelton are hoping they've got what it takes to turn the big red chairs on the 2017 season of The Voice.

The television singing contest launched last night featuring budding artists from across the country who auditioned for judges Delta Goodrem, Seal, Boy George and Kelly Rowland.

On tonight's episode, Glasshouse Mountain's Caldwell, 30, will take the stage, hoping his combination of delta blues, country and folk music style will win over the star judging panel.

Caldwell lives a bit of a nomadic travelling life, and has had many odd jobs, including being a ski technician, builder and candy shop worker.

He has also performed across the Coast.

Later in the week, former Siena Catholic College student Sally Skelton will get her turn to sing.

The 18-year-old who graduated in 2015 and took a gap year last year to pursue her music, said she liked to sing a mix of folk and pop music - combining the old-world twang of artists like Joni Mitchell with modern pop sounds.

"I like to put them all together and create some sort of sound," she said.

The Voice airs on Channel Nine tonight and tomorrow night from 7.30pm, and at the same time on Sunday night.

See the pair perform a duet together below.
